I followed Nick Parker's lead. I downloaded Subtext before Nick Parker upgraded (err…migrated) to Subtext from Community Server, but he's faster to the punch.
I had been using an old version of .Text but after Community Server came out I didn't jump on the band wagon right away because I really wanted the source code. I know I probably won't have to dig into the source code, but I feel more comfortable when I have it…just in case.
So you want to know why I like cake…I mean Subtext.
- Source Code
Not only is the source code available, there is a Subversion repository. Maybe I just like projects that start with "Sub".
- .Text Import
The migration process was fairly painless. I had an issue with the default migration process because the tables in my database were owned by my sql account, not "dbo". This was an issue when I originally installed .Text and figured I would never have to worry about it. I should know better.
- Built in Captcha and Cocomment support
- An active (and growing) developer community
- Blog API works with Microsoft Word 2007
This is my first post using Microsoft Word to post, so I'm hoping this one makes it on the final list. Subtext isn't listed in the "built" in list of blog providers, but this post helped me set it up.
I'm sure there is more to love, but it is pretty sweet (like cake).
